Become a certified ETI practitioner
Would you like to jumpstart your team knowledge and coaching skills so that you can create powerful and transformative team experiences?
Then become a certified Extraordinary Teams Inventory practitioner! Our next training begins on Thursday, June 12.
The Extraordinary Teams Inventory
The Extraordinary Teams Inventory (ETI) is an evidence-based and statistically sound instrument to assess a team’s performance in 10 areas of teaming practices.
Using the ETI in a team coaching setting stimulates team conversations about what’s working well and what might need to be improved.
Based on the original research of Geoffrey Bellman and Kathleen Ryan in their their book Extraordinary Groups: How Ordinary Teams Achieve Amazing Results, and continuing research by Kevin Coray with thousands of people and hundreds of teams, the Extraordinary Teams Inventory provides information and advice about a team’s performance in these 10 areas.
The ETI, coupled with the Extraordinary Teams model, is unique in ways that make it the premier team assessment in today’s marketplace. Unlike other team models and instruments, it uses an appreciative approach letting teams discover what’s right and not just what’s wrong. It is psychometrically sound and based on extensive qualitative and quantitative research. It is user-friendly for those who take the assessment and those who help interpret the results. And, it’s a cost-effective way to regularly measure how a team is doing in specific areas of teaming behavior.
Program Details
This program has six participative sessions for a total of 10 hours. The workshops are virtual, with 20 or fewer participants in each cohort.
Session 1: Overview and technical description
June 12 (11am ET / 8am PT)
Information about the Extraordinary Teams model and how the ETI was conceived and developed will be followed by a review of the Inventory and the Team Report. This will be a first look at what’s in the ETI and some ideas about how and when the assessment can be introduced to a client. We will also describe how the instrument was developed; what the scores represent; why it is psychometrically sound; and why all this is important.
Session 2: Aspirations and using the Extraordinary Teams model without the ETI
June 19 (11am ET / 8am PT)
Participants will more deeply explore elements of the Extraordinary Teams model—specifically the Aspirations, Personal Transformation, and the Four Feelings. These concepts provide additional depth to coaching the team about individual and group needs that must be met before extraordinary teaming can be attained and sustained. There will also be a review of ways to use the Extraordinary Teams concepts without administering the ETI.
Session 3: Advanced practice #1
June 26 (11am ET / 8am PT)
Based on real case studies using the ETI with clients, this workshop will be a supervised practice session with two main components. First, breakout groups will role play how to open a client team discussion of the ETI results, how to explain and engage the team in conversation about the results, and how to help team focus on what they want to do with the information they have received. Then there will be simulated practice in breakout groups using generic reports where participants take turns reviewing the client score profile and percentile ranks.
Session 4: ETI administration process
July 10 (11am ET / 8am PT)
The workshop leaders will review the process for working with the publisher of the ETI, HRDQ, to administer the assessment. HRDQ materials related to the ETI will be described. Tips and tools for this phase will be shared so participants will have a thorough understanding of how to prepare for working with a client.
Session 5: Advanced practice #2
July 17 (11am ET / 8am PT)
Based on real case studies using the ETI with clients, this is a second set of breakouts in which participants will role play engaging with the team leader and communicating with the team prior to the debriefing. This will be followed with another role play.
Session 6: Practitioner experience and celebration
July 24 (11am ET / 8am PT)
Our final session will include a panel discussion with other ETI Certified Practitioners in which cohort members can ask questions about their own clients, a broad range of ETI case studies and more. There will be a celebration of achievement and presentation of certificates to those who have fulfilled all requirements.
The certification process
This six-session virtual certification program is delivered by Extraordinary Teams Partnership (ETP) members with extensive ETI experience. This group of professionals will support your learning through regular contact throughout the program.
In addition to learning about the technical aspects of the instrument, you will discover how to make the assessment experience timely and relevant for your clients and their teams.
Certification involves 10 hours of programing, including interactive sessions with ETP members, self-directed learning modules, and review of program materials.
The program begins on Thursday, June 12 and runs on Thursdays through July 24, excluding July 3. Four sessions are 1.5 hours long, and the other two are 2.5 hours to allow participants to role-play debriefing ETI results with each other.
